Agent Spotlight: Violeta Khouri, Power Insurance

Our newest agent spotlight series uncovers how our agents started in the world of insurance, the bumps in the road they faced, and how Kemper Auto was able to help steer them toward the right direction. We spoke with Violeta Khouri, agency owner of Power Insurance, about her background and relationship with Kemper Auto.

What brought you into the insurance world?

Khouri started in the insurance business learning the basics through family members who were agency owners. She also found good mentors that helped guide her along the way. The insurance industry gave her purpose. “I wanted to be part of a stable industry that also gave me the opportunity to help people. I saw how important it was for families and businesses to have protection when they needed it the most. That really motivated me to pursue the insurance career and focus on building relationships with clients and not just selling policies.”

Her family is her greatest inspiration. “My biggest motivation are my children. Creating a stable industry for their future is something that motivates me every day.”

What is your relationship with your customers?

Khouri’s relationship with her customers is very personal. “Most of them have my cell phone number, which is a good and a bad thing, but I would say I’m available 24 hours for any issues they might have.”

She also added that her customers like to feel like they’re speaking to a person. “Basically, when you’re the face of the company, you have to answer at all times and be there for the client. And it’s a gratifying feeling to know that you gave that person peace of mind when they needed it the most.”

How was Kemper Auto able to help accelerate success?

Khouri felt comfortable working with Kemper Auto logistics, and agent training. She also thinks relationships with the marketing reps are essential to a successful business. “Working with Kemper has been great since day one. The relationships with my marketing rep and sales representatives have been very transparent and straightforward. It’s been a genuine relationship. They’re a phone call away and ready to help when it comes to client-related questions, concerns or general insurance matters.”

What advice do you have for agents and newcomers in the industry?

“Trust is a key component to being in a successful business.” Khouri emphasized. “[Success is] when a customer trusts you enough to recommend their family members, their friends to your business. I’m not just selling an insurance policy. I’m selling peace of mind.” She also adds, “My best marketing is a referral. Having been in the business for over 30 years gives my customers the peace of mind that they’re with a trusted agency.” Khouri also feels that it’s not only a positive influence on the customers but with the community as well. “When the customer feels safe – [like] somebody’s looking out for their best interest, they walk out of the office with the best possible coverage.”
